Our difference

Fits in June the way it fit in September.

Kids are hard on clothes. Ours are made to go from the first day of school to the last. Here’s how.

  1. 01

    Fabric

Dense, cotton-rich fleece and French terry (80/20 combed cotton) that keeps its size and shape through a year of washing, instead of thinning out or stretching.

  2. 02

    Design

Cut true to size with room to move: raglan sleeves, a waist that stays where it should and a little length to spare, so it still fits at the end of the year.

  3. 03

    Craftsmanship

Cover-stitched seams and clean finishing that hold together through a year of recess and the washing machine, made with care in a family owned factory.

Our story

Parents first. Brand second.

Headstart began with a drawer of kids’ clothes that didn’t make it through the school year.

The hoodie that fit in September was short in the sleeves by spring. Joggers went thin at the knee. Colors faded, and the size on the label rarely matched the kid wearing it. Every parent we knew had the same drawer.

We were parents with a problem and a family factory that could fix it. So we made the ones we actually wanted to buy, and since 2020 families in Canada have kept coming back for them. Now we’re bringing them to families across the US.

Manufacturing

Family Owned Factory.

Our clothes are made in a family owned factory, a vertically integrated knit house in Dhaka, Bangladesh, that has produced for major UK and US retailers since 2001. Knitting, dyeing, printing, embroidery and sewing happen under one roof, and we have a direct line to the people making every piece.

That closeness is the point. When something isn’t right, we don’t file a ticket with a stranger. We call family, and it gets fixed before the next run.
